Important Recall Notice
The “Cars” 12-inch backpack
Model Number CA28904TG, sold exclusively at Target Stores
from February 2007 through September 19, 2007, included a separate pouch with 4 sealed Game
Pieces that contain small magnets.
The magnets can come loose and present a hazard, especially if more than
one magnet is swallowed. There
have been no reports of injury, but these magnets could be swallowed or
aspirated by young children. When more
than one magnet is swallowed, the magnets can attract to each other and cause
intestinal perforation, infection or blockage, which can be fatal. Aspiration
to the lungs requires immediate surgery.
The Game Pieces are being recalled.
This
recall does not include the backpack itself which can still be used and
enjoyed.
Consumers are asked to locate the 4 magnetic Game
Pieces:
(2 plastic car shaped disks and 2 red and black plastic disks), and place them out of the reach of children. Please check your home, play areas and toys for any loose or liberated magnets - remove these from the reach of children. Discontinue use of the Game Pieces. Review the full color image above to identify the product.
The Game Pieces can be placed in an envelope and returned with three first class postage stamps. We will refund postage and return a Cars wallet or other product with a retail value of up to $5 to the consumer.
Consumers may alternatively simply dispose of the magnetic Game Pieces, in which case there will be no exchange product provided.
Again, the
backpack can continue to be used and enjoyed.
